Logbook collects nothing about you. There is no account to create, no server of ours to talk to, and no analytics in the app.

What Logbook stores, and where

Your Alpaca API keys

Stored in your device’s Keychain. They are marked as available only after first unlock and only on this device, so they are not included in iCloud backups and do not sync to your other devices. Removing an account from Logbook deletes them.

Account names and your watchlist

The name you give a book, and any symbols you add to Markets, are kept on your device.

A snapshot for the widget

Equity, the day’s change and a count of outstanding orders are written to a shared container so the Home Screen widget can display them. It contains no credentials.

When your trial began

A single date, in the Keychain.

All of it stays on your device. None of it is transmitted to us, because there is nowhere to transmit it to.

What leaves your device

Requests to Alpaca’s own API, authenticated with your own keys, to read your account, positions, orders, assets, prices and the market clock. That is the entire list. Logbook has no backend, and market data is never proxied through any server of ours — it comes to you directly from Alpaca under your own data plan.

What you do inside Alpaca is governed by Alpaca’s own privacy policy, not this one.

Analytics and tracking

None. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising identifier, no crash reporter and no third-party code of any kind. Nothing is tracked across apps or websites.

This website

These pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not track you across sites or build a profile of you. It records aggregate page views along with the referring page, browser and device type, country, and page-load timings. That data is processed by Cloudflare, Inc.

The pages are otherwise static files served by GitHub Pages, which — like any web host — processes the IP address of an incoming request in order to serve it.

None of this is in the app. Logbook itself contains no analytics of any kind; this applies to the website only.

Payment

The one-off unlock is sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details, name or email address. Logbook asks the App Store only whether this Apple Account has bought the unlock.

Children

Logbook is a tool for viewing a brokerage account and is not directed at children.

Changes

If any of the above ever stops being true, this page changes in the same release that changes it — not afterwards.
